New Stupid browser workaround of the day
It seems the FireFox 1.0.x has a bug in which running the midas component puts the browser into a state in which meta refresh tags stop working.

The silly workaround is to add javascript to the page as well that changes the document.location to the new url, thus guaranteeing you a belt and suspenders and preventing web developer's embarrassment.

New This is for a periodic refresh?
Else why not use the Location header?

New Either
Not all web development environments provide easy access to the http headers - they hide them in limited apis.

The javascript version would have to work on a timer in such a case. In our case, its an annoyance when doing redirects after secure form posts to insecure pages.

New Ugh. What are you using that doesn't allow headers?
Even PL/SQL can write HTTP headers. :-P

New A homebrew language/app server
Which is being deprecated for a new fancier homebrew app server with perl/mason as the page description language.

I can't say much more than that.

Tasteful, translucent, understated...it was the most charming, pleasant system crash I've ever experienced.
