New Is it possible that there's a hardware problem?
So far, my main experience with XP bluescreens has shown marginal power supplies to be the culprit most of the time.

New it was an intel nic that tripped it
cant recreate the issue. Its not so much the blue screen asn what didnt happen for failover after the blue screen. Need to re-create a blue screen to troubleshoot the failover failure.
thanx,
bill

New LRPD sees all, knows all
I probably couldn't recreate it intentionally, and I sure as hell don't remember how it works now.

New Need to run the failover routine in a VM p'raps
though I don't know how you might go about building such. How did they do their testing when they were creating the failover routines? That would be the first place to go look, I'd think...

New 3rd party system and their eng dont know how to cause a blue
screen, so they will first try ripping the processor unit out of its chassis tomorrow too see if it fails over correctly. Seems kinda harsh way to test although I used to do that with a sun ft1800
thanx,
bill

New Hehe.
I used to manage some high-end phone switches. These switches being built in Israel.

I watched them pull out all (four redundant) processor boards, cut with diagonal pliers one whole side of the backplane... not a single phone was lost and not a single phonecall was missed.

These switches had "card processors" and 4 way redundant backplanes. So if the processors died and much of the backplane failed... it would continue to function at 100%.

They built this to take shotgun blasts from point blank range. Also to take a fragmentary grenade out side the cabinet and continue to work. They also have kits to deal with incendiary grenades and fires.

... gah, been trying to think of the company name... grrr.
