Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of .NET programming in the near future. The company is comitted to moving what is currently a Cold Fusion system to .NET.
We don't have a significant code in .NET right now, and thus I could recommend another language. I have been using C# so far, but that is mostly by default.
I'm also wondering if there are any alternatives to ASP.NET. So far I'm not liking ASP.NET and the way it pastes a stateful event oriented system over HTML/HTTP. Like so many Microsoft things it a a big sticky hydra, once you start using one bit it sticks everywhere and it is neither well explained nor does it play well with others.
At the very least, does anybody know some good books for C# or ASP.NET programming? The ones I have seen so far are little more then extended documentation of the API.
