Visit [link|http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html|Linux Winmodems] and see if they have support for your Lucent chipset. A web page with a picture of Arnold J. Rimmer on it can't be all bad, now can it? :)

There is also the [link|http://linmodems.org/|Linmodems] web site to try out.

Do a search on Scorpio drivers, maybe some OEM wrote Linux drivers for them? One can only hope.
