New INCOMING! CLUE ATTACK!
When a distro doesn't work for you, and elsewhere there seems to be unlimited enthusiasm for it at every turn, perhaps it's you, your machine, or what you're doing that sucks, and not the distro...

New Cluebat for you
If his machine is what sucks, his experience is going to be horrible, no matter how wonderful the distribution may be. And having people tell you that you suck for being unhappy is not going to improve your impression any.

Cheers,
Ben

New The hardware may work well...
in the right situation.

Suppose that it is the Nvidia problem that Inthane guessed. The hardware is fine. It does what it is supposed to. It may be great under Windows.

It is still a problem for Ubuntu.

Whose "fault" is that? (I hate the word fault, but that's a rant for a different day.) According to Nvidia, it is Ubuntu's. According to Ubuntu, it is Nvidia's. According to you it is Hugh's.

The buck can be passed indefinitely. But passing the buck doesn't help Hugh, nor does insulting him.

Cheers,
Ben

New hardware's not terrible
The main function of the box is to be my test ACS server running Win 2003 Server which it does rather nicely. I put the other disk in for experimental purposes.
Mainstream hardware. Working order. Everything works except ...
For the brave new future...
