Would that really be required by the current language of v3? It does sound like the type of unanticipated consequence that might come out of this, but I can't imagine the FSF didn't think of it.

If in fact they did think of it, and if they're willing to accept this side-effect -- or worse, if they see it as a bonus -- then I'm with Linus. Although it might be more useful for Linus to explain his concern and suggest a modification to the language.
