New Calling all NewtHeads
There are a couple of you out there, I believe, who still think fondly of this orphaned handheld. I picked one up used a couple of years ago on a whim; an identical model (MP 130) for the spouse on eBay recently because the price was absurdly low (>$35) and because she'd been intrigued by mine. To my surprise, she has picked it up and run with it, and now I'm frantically researching such extant connectivity solutions as might work this wicked century (fortunately she clings to Win98 for her office machine, which makes the gap less vast). I've located and ordered the most advanced model (MP 2100), which appears to have been a huge step forward from the 1xx series, and expect it to arrive before Happyholidaysmas.

Questions: the extant Newtsites are strewn with dead links. There appear to be a few tens of thousands of hardcore users out there, but the connections between them are tenuous at best. Is anyone here still using his MessagePad? Any resources you'd particularly recommend?

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New Mine died :-(
the sites I used to visit appear to be defunct.

New Re: Mine died :-(
If the spousette bonds to her MP2100, I might have a MP130 to part with for a nominal sum.

New tempting
but I haven't missed my 2100 for quite some time.

New Step back in time.
I still use mine, though it's slowly dying - it requires frequent calibration. I use it mainly with the keyboard to take sermon notes in church.

If delicious will come back up, there are some Newton links that still work on that. I haven't gone looking at software in ages because I don't have anything slow enough running Windows to talk to it. There is some Linux support, notable a package transferrer and a front-end to Sloup, a neat program that lets you rummage inside the Newton's storage databases.
