New Smell test?
I think Apple and Time magazine may have made a business deal that got the new iMac on the cover this week. That isn't the way magazine covers are supposed to be chosen, so I hope I am wrong. But the cover doesn't pass the smell test.

In protecting their deal--which included an exclusive "scoop" for Time --I believe that Apple lied to me and probably lied to others. That is not acceptable. I am not in the scoop business, and given a choice between most of the media and a Time cover, I'd choose the cover. But I wouldn't lie, either.

Coming from a ZD writer, this is rich. Really rich. All those favorable "reviews" of MS crashware over the years were entirely due to the merits of the products, right?

Coursey is very hard to take seriously. His misdirection and damning with faint praise is transparent.

The average farmer worked 40 hours a week.
The average programmer works 60 hours a week.
What the hell are we thinking?
