New Throw away my soldering iron(s)?
Are you completely mad? I'm not likely to throw away my (WWII surplus) soldering copper either(1).

(1) A soldering copper is like a soldering iron except but it's cordless(2)

(2) Required accessories - blowtorch.

New Noooo.... now you gone a done it.
No, that is not a soldering iron.

It is for mainly sheetmetal working. Soldering sheetmetal (steel, tin, pewter, copper, brass)

I know this, I have one as well, made from a high-temperature copper alloy, capable of being about 3 times as hot as regular copper before melting.

I use them with silver-solder to make drip-pans and customize engine oil-pans, even body work. There are some "rigs" out there that actually have a blow-torch built-in that when you return the "iron" the mount it auto-magically cranks the heat on and warms the whole thingamajigger.

So, yeah, I ain't throwing out my old ones either. (Hell I still have the cheasy cheap one I was bought for christmas ~7 years old.)
