Welcome to IWETHEY!

New What were the drivers for this
and was this discussed anywhere?

Feeling a bit more out of the loop now.

"Whenever you find you are on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect"   --Mark Twain

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."   --Albert Einstein

"This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mental losses."   --George W. Bush
New I don't recall discussing it.
Mainly I wanted a cleaner design. There are some unnecessary tables. Also there are additional tables for different functionality.

zIWT is a prototype... I wasn't particularly wedded to the design.

New And the whole threading issue
And the ever-expanding object DB.

New Those weren't reasons to change the DB schema, though...

New It's your baby.
So if you want to re-schema it, go right ahead. Still, it's been performaing marvellously for a prototype.

But I can certainly sympathise with changing a DB's schema. Been trying to do that at work for months. Unfortunately, it's not my design and there are too many places which dance right on the tables. Fortuantely, we're slowly whittling those down.
