I used Mandrake update last night...and part of the update was to go from 2.4.8-26 to 2.8.4-34...for reasons of security.

Well...after the update the machine wouldn't boot...typical lilo bullshit.

And...boot floppy was bad...

So I got the cds...created another boot floppy using the new kernel 2.4.8-34mdk.

Made an new initrd.img for the new kernel

ran lilo -P fix

try to boot via lilo and get

loading linux...
uncompressing...

invalid compression format err1

what now?

The system boots from the floppy fine...but carrying around that floppy drive is a pain...since its not integrated.
