Unix and Linux users now have access to e-mail scanning and filtering technology via one of the first multi-threaded anti-virus packages developed for their operating systems.

Russia's Kaspersky Lab has developed a version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV) for the OpenBSD (v2.8) and Solaris 8 for Intel environments, as well as the exim e-mail gateway.

Denis Zenkin, Kaspersky's head of communications, told Newsbytes that, although most variants of the Unix and Linux operating systems have integral IT security features, most of them are quite basic.
