New Excel: who invented pivot tables?
IIRC, they were created by a user, then adopted by Microsoft as a feature of the spreadsheet. I can't find a reference quickly in Google. Anyone got clues?

...the only thing I saw (and used) was Lotus Improv...which was pretty darned close to what pivot tables bring to excel...
