Finally found a Java app that isn't cack
All hail JHymn!
Little known fact is that the authorization to play iTunes-purchased music on your iPod expires after a period of time. If you take your ipod on the road with just the charger and don't dock it to the computer to have the authorization refreshed, it will decline to play ITMS purchased songs after about a week.
This recently happened to me and I went looking for some tool to remove the DRM on MY music that I PAID FOR.
Behold JHymn for Mac OS X. The UI isn't much to look at - just a big old configuration panel and a go button. But after making backups of my music directory, firing up JHymn and letting it chug along for awhile (a long while - I've bought about 1700 songs in the last year), I now have my music library playing just fine with my computer de-authorized.
Sweet!
Oh, and I tried that bit torrent client Peter is so hot about - it never works (fails to connect or something) and I end up using BitTorrent.app. It just works. So there is really exactly one worthwhile Java app in the world that's not a developer tool. But its a good one.

If Azureus doesn't work, you're doing it wrong.

Azureus works.
the app is cack, apss should be able to have a somewhat knowlegeable person be able to figger it out in a reasonable amount of time. If they cant the app is cack. Complete idiots can and do use Azureus. Millions of the buggers. If Todd can't work it, that really is his fault.

You're an idiot
for saying this; Complete idiots can and do use Azureus. Millions of the buggers.
If Todd can't work it, that really is his fault.
I downloaded it, started it, and gave it a url for a torrent. It simply spins the rainbow cursor forever. I downloaded bittorrent.app, started it, and gave it a url for a torrent. It sucked it down and double clicking on the name launched the torrent (video). The superior, non cack app, would be the one that got the file.

Whatever.
And, just coincidentally, the one you "couldn't work" is the Java one. Well, blimey.
Edit: I just tried "giving a URL to Azureus".
And you know what? It worked! Who'd have thunk it, eh?

Quite a few work, and work well
A couple examples that don't even mention they're written in Java: -- Siemens Logo! software -- Cognex Insight machine vision software Maybe they'd be better if they were written in _______, but they're written in Java and work fine.
Oh, and Eclipse works fine for me, too. It's pretty snappy on a Semporn 2800+.
