Answering the wrong question

The right question is, "How do I get this app to read/write the tags in MP4s?" I agree transcoding would introduce suck ... that's why I didn't address it.

So is there any Free, lossless codec that supports meta-info tags? Seems the thing to do is rip to that, back up to DVD +/-R, and every time you want stuff in a new codec you transcode to that from the lossless original.
