New The main difference seems to be . . .
. . the economy with which normal motor fuel can be extracted from common garbage. Most biodiesel requires high grade stock such as used deep fry oil or fresh corn oil and may require engine modifications.

There was a pilot plant in Southern California some years ago proving the conversion of common garbage into crude oil, but I think they used much higher temperatures and pressures.
