Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Firefox in Linux is being VERY ANNOYING
It seems that when I inadvertently click on... something, on any given page -- I don't know what it is, and I don't know how it happens -- a random fricking page loads. I don't know if I'm somehow telling firefox "load a page that has something to do with the word I'm hovering over" or if it's a weird-ass bug in the Linux version of Firefox (doesn't happen in windows) but it's very frustrating.

Has anyone encountered this? How do you turn it off? Does my explanation even make sense?

New Sure it's not an Extension
I have Super Drag&Go installed (winders though), and it allows you to drag any word or url and open it in a new tab. There's probably others that can do similar tricks with clicks and whatnot.
New Not an extension...
... since I'm not using any at the moment.

It sure is annoying, though. I can't pinpoint what it is that does it. Sometimes I'll be using the middle-button autoscroll, sometimes I'll be using the mouse wheel to scroll down... come to think it it happens a lot when I'm using the mouse wheel in some form. It's just weird.

New You are triggering a right click
but you are not on a clickable link.
This in turn attempts to replace the current web page with whatever is in the cut&paste buffer.

Just a guess!
New Could be you tiggering the middle button
On Linux the default action for the middle button is to take whatever is currently on the clipboard as a url and try to visit it. It could be that some combination of system settings and mouse behavior is sending middle button click events to Firefox.

You could try going into about:config and changing the setting related to middlemouse.

New I'll try that. Thanks.
If that doesn't work I'll try using a different mouse like Peter suggested.

New This seems to have worked.
At least, I haven't triggered the function since I changed that setting, and I usually trigger it once or twice a day...

Maybe if he's been Tiggering his mouse, it might need replacing...

New Change yer mouse
Sounds like the middle button/wheel is goosed.

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New You said 'mouse', so this may not apply -
I note that, on both wired and wireless Logitech Trackmans:
(Which otherwise I find entirely suited to my wishes)

I must insert a small folded piece of styrene foam to desensitize the RH button. And reposition it periodically, as it attains a Set.
Sloppy design/QC, I say - sensitivity is clearly too high; at quite less-than the amputated weight (?) of my right ring-finger resting anywhere in contact - the sucker Longs to send a signal.

(But I suppose you'd get the obv clue of that Right Menu; dunno what, besides a menu, you might have Your Rt. button commanded to do, of course.)
