Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Why don't you try being dominated for centuries, fellas
and then try to claw your way out of the Stone Age. The history of our gender goes way back to the point that we were merely chattel. And this existed for hundreds of years. Now, we made some significant progress in the US with the right to vote and the Pill, but as a general population, we are still trying to recover from our sordid past.

There still exists a distinct predjudice against women and there are very few who have the moxie to overcome that predjudice. The Archie Bunker mentality is still so prevalent that it makes me sick. Especially the Southern Baptist spin on "women are the servant to the man". Puhleeeze!

Blacks have an advantage over women because at least in their history, they started out as independent; some would even say royal because of their tribal structure. Women have never had that luxury. There are still parts of the world that time forgot. The Middle East is just such a place.

Now, one could argue that in the natural world, feminism or matriarchy as demonstrated by bees, lions, and other female-dominant species gives us a boost. But human female dominance is rare and the male scientists have given short shrift to these societies.

So, considering that females have been oppressed for generation after generation, one could draw the conclusion that there will always be throw-backs to that oppression. Those of us who are educated, strong-willed, and secure in our own skins...well, we are the ones who are paving the way for future generations to stop being victims and start believing in themselves.

Brain-washing takes a long time to be deprogrammed. I can't wait for the day when our global society makes a colossal paradigm shift: no glass ceilings, no "man is stronger than the woman" bullshit. We will evolve as a species and someday, women will not have to play second-fiddle to men, but be accepted for the bright, intelligent beings that we are and gender will not be a consideration, except for procreation.

Thank you for listening, vote affirmative.

Peace,
Amy

PS,
Most men can't handle strong women. They are scared to death of being "emasculated". Boo Hoo and get the hell over it. and don't call me a bitch either because if I were a man, you all would be giving me a punch on the shoulder going, "Right on, Dude".

New Hmmm . . . what about the claims . .
. . that in ancient times a large part of society in the Mediterranian was lopsidedly female dominated - that the very concept of male dieties was brought by European invaders - and the local men, once introduced to the concept, took things to the opposite extreme? has that all been discredited now?

Or the goddesses of the Celt? "There is nothing more ferrocious than a Celt - except his woman" - Julius Ceaser. Yes, I have read "When God was a Woman" and various other books on the subject.

For sure the pagan religions of the Europeans considered men and women much more equal - the war between the Asir and the Vanir (the war between the sky gods and earth godesses - the war between men and women) was considered a draw. Women were still running major businesses in Germany during the Renaissance, to the consternation of visiting Italian traders.

In Egypt both religions coexisted side by side for thousands of years, even though attempts to reconcile the two and merge them failed - until the coming of Christianity.

I think your problem is, once again, the three revealed religions - Judaism and it's offspring Christianity and Islam. Nontheless, women still hold to these religions tenaciously, even more tenaciously than their menfolk do. Why?

Is this for the same reason women listen to those woman bashing talk radio shows?

[link|http://www.aaxnet.com|AAx]
New Answer to your question.
huge popularity of abusive daytime talk radio among women

Popular? By whose standards? Such programming is just another form of men trying to keep the wimmen down. Who is putting on such shows? Who is buying airtime to advertise during such shows? Surely not "you go girl" feminists. Although I must allow that battering and abuse are finally coming out of the shadows. If anything, these shows are cautionary tales to prevent women from making the same mistake. Airing dirty laundry is the hip thing to do these days. If such shows can help at least one woman leave her abusive relationship (which, I might add is probably due to a lack of a positive, significant father/male figure) then it has some redeeming value. Otherwise, it is just more dreck to fill up space by the radio stations.

Harumph!
Amy

at the low end of the scale it is 50-50 which sex is the abuser.

New Unfortunately . . .
. . the shows I've heard have nothing about bringing abuse out of the closet. They generally consist of some popular guy verbally abusing women who call in and verbally abusing the woman on the show and her agreeing with him.

New I think that would be by ARBitron's standards...

shrub●bish (Am., from shrub + rubbish, after the derisive name for America's 43 president; 2003) n. 1. a form of nonsensical political doubletalk wherein the speaker attempts to defend the indefensible by lying, obfuscation, or otherwise misstating the facts; GIBBERISH. 2. any of a collection of utterances from America's putative 43rd president. cf. BULLSHIT

New And, just for fun...Bitchology
When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a bitch.

When I stand up for those I love, they call me a bitch..

When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts or do things my own way, they
call me a bitch.

Being a bitch means I won't compromise what's in my heart. It means I live my life MY way. It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.

When I refuse to tolerate injustice and speak against it, I am defined as a bitch.

The same thing happens when I take time for myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when I act a little selfish.

It means I have the courage and strength to allow myself to be who I truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think I "should" be.

I am outspoken, opinionated and determined. I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that!

So try to stomp on me, try to douse my inner flame, try to quash every ounce of beauty I hold within me. You won't succeed.

And if that makes me a bitch, so be it.

Perhaps I should embrace the title and be proud to bear it.

New Kindly note . . .
. . that I haven't called you a bitch, nor had the thought crossed my mind - but now that you've brought it up I'll keep it on file in case it ever becomes appropriate.
[link|http://www.aaxnet.com|AAx]
New I didn't say you did
but if you are going to paint all women with the same brush, then turnabout is fair play, sweetie.

I,OTOH, love men. I have found your breed fascinating and entertaining ever since I was about 4 years old (my personal age of reason). The interesting part is that the feeling was mutual because I always had more male friends than female and still do to this day.

Apparently, in my younger days, the girls felt threatened by my friendships with boys (oh, Brother!) Only in my adult life have I found friendships with women to be satisfying. I guess it has something to do with joining the "Mom Club" and also finding other women who are not afraid to be themselves, rather than those who prefer to live by the same old tired paradigm of the Rah-Rah (read Cheerleader in high school) mentality.

I'm honored that the thought didn't cross your mind. Otherwise, Critter would've had to kick your ass. :-D

BTW, how old/young are you? I'm 43. Just wondering what generation to which you are referring.

Peace,
Amy

New Generation - I'm 62
[link|http://www.aaxnet.com|AAx]
New Yep, fscked up generation, fer sure!
My mother is 65. The crap that is consistent with that age bracket boggles my mind. "Martyr marriages". Victim mentality. Oy Vey! (eyes rolling). But I guess it has to do with their parents. Surviving a Depression can really put a family to the test and establish values that are severe to say the least. Only now (3 years after my dad's passing) does mom realize how much of her misery was her own doing. Regret consumes her. Pity.

Wishing you peace,
Amy

New I had an interesting question along those lines
Group therapy.

The counselor said:
What wouldn't you do for a million dollars?
No repercussions other than your memory of the act.

My answer:

Line 'em up and I'll suck 'em off, or hand me an Uzi and I'll mow 'em down.
Your choice.

About 1/2 the people were in agreement with me, the other half horrified.
New the uzi wouldnt leave such a bad taste in my mouth
dont need a mill that bad
now a decent blowjob regularly or a get out of jail free card for an uzi that would be a tough one.
