So, I followed a howto I found through google - [link|http://craige.mcwhirter.com.au/2005/ubuntu-ldap-client.html|http://craige.mcwhir...-ldap-client.html] - and gave it a whirl. Problems arose immediately.
Some configuration information:
I was running Ubuntu 5.04, with a single user account named 'dummy' - UID 1000, methinks. Attempting to log in as 'dummy' would result in two password prompts. Gnome would just kick me out, but dropping to a command prompt, then just leaving a blank password for the first password, and entering the dummy account password in the second prompt would log me into the workstation - and then the machine identified the user as the username of the guy who set up the LDAP server via the prompt.
I attempted to su, and got the following:
password:
password:
ldap password:
password:
password:
and then some spew I don't remember right now.
Sudo gave me the same response; it's pretty obvious to me that whatever I did didn't work all that well. Any good howtos out there I'm missing?
Thanks,
Thane
