New Look at MS innovate
there is one feature that is not in Firefox
you can choose to open a new link in a foreground tab or a background tab
in Firefox opening a link in a new tab opens it in the background

New I thought your point was MS innovated the idea?
Well let's see. They didn't innovate tabbed browsing. They didn't innovate configurable behavior of the tabs. What was left?

New Well, that's the beauty of Firefox, ain't it?
Customizable. Unlike the IE world, where extensions usually amount to spyware and adware.
New Im confused, wasnt it just a few months ago that Balmer said
users dont have a use for tabbed browsing?
thanx,

New Another thing...
You'll also note that in Firefox, when you open 40-50 tabs(of different content from different sites) at once... it still functions very well indeed. (IE7 chokes on that many, yes, I have it Loaded on a Windows machine here)

But, those annoying tabs being super small can be taken care of with an extension for the tabbar. It lets you set the minimum width for a tab, then stacks the tabs once you reach the maximum tabs per line. The extension I am using is called Flowing Tabs, the one Drew Uses (and as do I) is called Tabbrowser Preferences.

You aren't really getting it, are YOU?

If you want to see functionality extended, you should really try FireFox and the Extensions written for it. I believe there is something like 400 now? Just checked, 559 Extensions. Ability to be eXtreme at personalizing your FireFox. Hey, lookey that most all of them thar Extensions work on any platform FireFox is written for.

Now, let us not get started on themes. 103 as of right now. Yeah. some are lame, others are Freakin Awesome, most are good.

New Speaking of extensions...
...I've finally made the move to Thunderbird. Any must have (or at least nice) extensions out there? So far, I've installed:
  • [link|http://www.chuonthis.com/extensions/nnwodc.php|No New Window on Double Click] - Opening a new clone of the window was an annoying behavior that I gladly was able to jettison
  • [link|http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/|Minimize to tray] - Windows only. I keep my browser and email programs open at all times. Minimizing to the tray helps keep the list of open programs manageable.
New Actually, I've been using TabMix for a while now
TBP is so heavily warned against -- though I never had any problems -- and TabMix is listed as the preferred alternative, that I thought I'd give it a try when things went wonky after a Firefox upgrade. I now know that creating a new profile probably would have worked, but it was another extension -- Greasemonkey -- that stopped working. I figured I'd try the tab extension alleged to play better with others. The only thing I'm missing is the colored tab groups.
