In praise of CRC
I was burrowing through old postings recently in search of some mots juste to recycle, and in the course of these investigations came repeatedly across threads enlivened by the peppery contributions of our own Christian R. Conrad. It's true that he sometimes—OK, usually—detonates at a considerably lighter provocation than most of us require, and it's true (or at least, I permit myself to suspect) that these latter months, since fatherhood, he occasionally forces the flames lest the rest of us even imagine imagining that the volcano could ever go dormant. But he keeps us native speakers honest, or tries to, and is a northern reproach to this country's shoddy stewardship of the language of Shakespeare and Milton. And in addition to all that, he keeps some goddamn character going here now that deSitter and others have self-exiled. So I say: Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! for CRC. Who is with me? Declare yourselves!

I really think that DeSitter couldn't keep the frustration in his life out of here, or that our "discussion" style would cause more frustration and it was just plane two much four him tue handel. Thear rally wuzn't alot of malfesterence in the attilitude to words DeSitter.
But, yes, I really enjoy Christian's approach to most topics.

I mean, we did seem to seriously rub one another the wrong way, no matter what we tried to do. But honestly, it isn't the same without him. The place seems, well, just a little different without Ross. Maybe someday he'll give us another chance, and maybe then I can somehow find a way to be less annoying to him. Brenda

Behind that gruff exterior...
lies a tender heart. Makes my knees go weak.
As I said in my Flame post, I appreciate his defense of the English Language. I meant it most sincerely. I can actually see the twinkle in his eyes when he stirs things up.
Christian makes it exciting around here when the pulse rate starts to drop. It's as if he is placing his gorgeous, full lips on ours and performing a most vigorous CPR.
