New Trying to run seti@home NLM on NW4.11
This is not going well, so I turn to the collective wisdom (meaning Greg, really).

Running NW4.11 (don't ask, Greg) with an Athlon Slot A 650Mhz CPU and 640M of RAM.

Everytime I try to run the client, it will start up, but then abort after about a minute, complaining that it can't allocate memory. There is also a message about Short Term Memory Allocator tried 3 times to get memory.

Any clue here?
New Yeap, run it in...
Protected Memory mode.

The syntax changed from 4.11...

Hmmm. looking around I don't see an reference to it in my stuff.

Googling....[link|http://developer.novell.com/research/sections/netmanage/netnovice/2001/june/n010601.htm|Best I can find]

I expect 4.11 doesn't have true protected memory space options, but at least you can try it.

I know for sure the Early Betas of NW5 had it... I suspect the last of the 4.11 intranetware service packs may have too.

New Thanks. I'll look into that.
Assuming that it doesn't work for 4.11, any chance NW5.x will still support the OS/2 IPX client?

I've frozen my server environment at 4.11 because it's the last version I know I can still use the IPX client for OS/2.
New IPX is still supported in Current Netware, 100%
Matter of fact, the funny part is it if you use Ether_II vs 802.(2|3) it is actually faster now.

I have NW6 and have successfully connected an OS/2 Kiosk to it, using the IPX OS/2 Client.

Since OS/2 also supports SMB, Netware 6.x+ also has SMB support, using (believe it or not) SAMBA on Netware. Netware now also supports NFS exports out of the box as well.

So you do have many choices to go forward with in any case.

New Just goes to show how much I'm out of the industry.
Not that I miss it much, but I don't follow the industry like I used to.

I see the NW6.5 eval is downloadable, but I couldn't find how many user licenses it allows. I assume you know? Hope it's at least 5.

I would assume there are certain things left out of the eval as well.
New I believe it is SBN. Small Bus netware
And I believ it is 5 or 10 users for a bit, then 2 after the eval period.

Please e-mail me Direct. I need to communicate to you, privately. The e-mail is below.
