Either he thinks he can be top-dog indefinitely, or he needs to be convinced that another approach will be better long-term. That is, either he needs more discipline or he needs more incentives. Your present approach doesn't seem to be working. Something like [link\|http://www.wild-side.com/scaredstraight.html\|Scared Straight] might illustrate the downside of not complying with societal norms. Or something that demonstrates the benefits of being a social adolescent could show the benefits of changing his ways. I can't find anything immediately, but I'm sure there are things out there. Adolescence is a difficult time under the best of circumstances. His feeling of invincibility is working against you. I hope he snaps out of it before he (and someone else) pays a heavy price. :-( Best of luck. Cheers, Scott.

Most of the Scared Straight-type programs are based on convincing the kid that there are badder people in the world, and that he really doesn't want to be among them. What do you do when the kid believes -- and with some justification -- that he is going to be the bad-ass that people don't want to be around? Right now, what he wants is "things". He has found a way to get them. He is happy with the state of his life. The only permanent fix is for him to see that there are intangible things in life that will make him happier.
