the one with the cd is just a little unstable
its the other one whose ambition in life is to become a thug thats the issue. Take stuff away he steals it from someone else, even a good friend of his if there is something he wants. Whats his is his and whats yours is his. and about what constitues flakey? I dunno but if I want to get to the good porn sites I have to check his cookies. They thoughtmaybe he was slow so did the old iq thingy 132 which isnt on the side of moronty. The little crapaud would be perfectly fine if he was an only child waited on hand a foot. Since he has to share the planet with siblings he is constantly in a world of "they hurt me" so he must torture them and his mother because she doesnt like his crap. If I could get 10 grand ahead I would by him a little 1 bedroom mobile home in the mexican encampment down the hill (no dig, just cheap if they are around) let him thug with the central american kids, see how long they put up with his shit and drop off tv dinners once a week. thanx, bill

I'd be pickin' up a case o' whoop ass and openin' a can R 2 a day until the problem subsided.
Problem with modern kids is they don't feel properly mortal and endangered.

little thug knows me, he prolly figures I am too far away (I am) and will forgive before he gets back here (I wont) I have knocked him down 3 times in his life and choked him out once, he just walks careful around me. His older brother and him have faught knockdown, dragout style no holds barred for 2 hours at a time, soon as he gets his breath he attacks again. Lets just say he is hard headed and move on. thanx, bill

Re: waste of time
It is a waste of time. The only thing it will accomplish is making you feel better momentarily and pissing him off even more.

Is there a "Scared Straight"-type thing around?
It seems as if you need to try something different. Either he thinks he can be top-dog indefinitely, or he needs to be convinced that another approach will be better long-term.
That is, either he needs more discipline or he needs more incentives. Your present approach doesn't seem to be working. Something like [link|http://www.wild-side.com/scaredstraight.html|Scared Straight] might illustrate the downside of not complying with societal norms. Or something that demonstrates the benefits of being a social adolescent could show the benefits of changing his ways. I can't find anything immediately, but I'm sure there are things out there.
Adolescence is a difficult time under the best of circumstances. His feeling of invincibility is working against you. I hope he snaps out of it before he (and someone else) pays a heavy price. :-(
Best of luck.
Cheers, Scott.

Problem with stuff like that
Box has already said that football coaches are drooling over this kid. Most of the Scared Straight-type programs are based on convincing the kid that there are badder people in the world, and that he really doesn't want to be among them. What do you do when the kid believes -- and with some justification -- that he is going to be the bad-ass that people don't want to be around?
Right now, what he wants is "things". He has found a way to get them. He is happy with the state of his life. The only permanent fix is for him to see that there are intangible things in life that will make him happier. And that he can't take those things from other people.

True. Apropos your avatar.
Maybe the little monster should see "An Officer and a Gentleman". The script is [link|http://www.un-official.com/AnOfficerandaGentleman.pdf|here], but the line I remember - "I've got no place else to go!" isn't in it.
Yeah, I know it probably wouldn't help...

unfortunately what is needed is the female torture
have him totally adore someone who treats him like dog shit explaining that how he acts is why she will not deign him worthy. Trouble is he is an attraction for the "lets date a loser because he is cute" class. thanx, bill

I don't think this one has a simple solution. :-(
I mean, if he's been incarcerated and has been in pugilstic action with Box and he still hasn't changed, well...
I think that he's too young to have an unrequited love turn him around (but what do I know). We know that the usual pressure to behave around relatives didn't work.
He seems very cynical. It's hard to imagine religion having much effect on him either.
What does that leave? [link|http://www.flickr.com/photos/39887008@N00/|Medication]?
[image|http://photos12.flickr.com/18087723_b431df8ec3.jpg?v=0|0|Thorazine ad|500|354]
[link|http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/military-boarding-schools.php|Military school]?
[link|http://www.focusas.com/JuvenileJustice.html|Group Home] or something else involving the juvenile justice system?
Dunno. I'm sure Box will keep working on him though.
He's a tough case. :-(
Cheers, Scott.

As I thought - according to the first of those, BOx...
...has "knocked him down three times".
That's no use -- ya can't just knock 'em down, ya gotta make sure they STAY down! Honestly, WTF is the use of "knocking him down"? He's gotta know he can still get a lot WORSE than just being "knocked down".
As for the second post, BOx needs to stop being such a wimp about his hands. Or get a good pair of thick leather working gloves.
Frivolities aside, it's good to see that contrary to the impression I got from your post, BOx can still handle the kid -- if only so he can drag him into his room and shut him in there. (For a good LONG while, with breaks only to go to the bathroom under Daddy's direct supervision.)
