New oracle remote DB access
trying to troubleshoot websphere thin client by tring to ensure that the connection works for the command line so I know that sqlplus login/password@SID works if the SID is in the tnsnames.ora but how would I pass the ip address to that command if I am trying to hit a database that is not in the tnsnames.ora. Websphere thin client is setup that way.
thanx,
bill

New I thought if it wasn't in tnsnames you couldn't get there,
no matter what. But I've not played with websphere as yet. (But now DataStage is caleld IBM Websphere Datastage blah blah, maybe I will).

Good luck!
Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
New Supposedly you can
sqlplus user/pw@T:some.host.com:SID

Where the 'T' is the protocol, and in this case stands for "TCP/IP".

I couldn't get it to work.
