New I'ma gonna kick shitake
I'ma gonna kick the shit out of whoever hit that transformer causing a power outage.

The 3-Phase Explosive disconnect was tripped after a transformer had an accident with a car. Err, maybe the other way.

Knight came backup just fine, but then "paused" regular like.

Discovered it was 4 files that were corrupted/truncated/chomped. To find them I wrote a smal script that read from every file.

*THAT* took a while. But once I did, removing the files and re-installing the packages they were attached to, fixed it.

I *REALLY HOPE*, that is the end of it.

I think we are past the worser-end of it.

New I thought you said outsourcing to Camaroon . . .
. . would not negatively affect site availability or performance.

New Well, supposedly you weren't supposed to...
even KNOW about it.

P.S. BTW, that was Cascade Township, MI not Camaroon. Although, it sure FEELS like Camaroon.

New The continuing SAGA...
We are on a mission from GRR.

Okay, so I have been having stability issues for a long while. Everything *WAS* taken care of up until Thursday of last week.

Lost 3 out of 5 2500VA UPS/Surge power supplies. From a Power Outage that was cause by a Crash into a Transformer at the main distibution site for the Industrial park. Which caused a buncha funkiness with surges and brownouts. Well, I had to fix many things.

Companies mailserver wouldn't run proper. a config had gotten overwritten with gobble-de-gook. Fixed.
Primary File server felt it was needed to rebuild the 4-way mirror. Done (finally).
Backup server wouldn't boot. Grub had to re-loaded. Boot sector was BLANK. Fixed
Knight had lotsa fun issues with File Corruption (4 files only). Fixed
Knight also had timeout issues realated to the Hard drives. Tried to fix, made worse.

I turned up the Vcore for the processor, sometimes silicone responds to a bit more voltage, giving stability. WRONGO this time. I added 5% to the Vcore of 1.67V, well the power capacitors on the motherboard decided to ooze forth Electrolytic material in front of mine eyes.

Had an exact replacement motherboard (minus the problems I hope) went and got it.

Still shaking this one out. We shall see.

If this one is bad as well, I'll be buying an Athlon64 motherboard and Processor (maybe Opteron)

Wish me luck.

New I assume...
... that this had something to do with all the "connection refused" messages I was getting until sometime yesterday?

Glad I'm not you, dood. Luck.
New Look on the bright side...
Eventually you'll be done, and can look back and say, Damn, I was good!

Cheers,
Ben

New The very best of Irish luck, I wish ye heartily!
New Thank you, man.
Seriously, this place means a lot to all of us.

On the oozing capacitor, sounds like it might be one of the bad batch that came out of Taiwan a few years back, hmm?
New Might just be.
They are the brand of capacitors that were the the ones at fault back then... hmm I might get a new MB out of this after all.
