New pci card issues Mepis Linux mepis1 2.6.10 #1
I will be busy on the network then the network card quits. Ifconfig doesnt show any errors, cleaned upmy network stuff, turned off apache, samba all the other crap I dont need. Taking the network cout out and re-inserting it sometimes works and cardmgr resets it. Mostly I have to cold boot it. Output from messages log

May 9 18:46:58 mepis1 kernel: ABORTED IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=00:50:da:da:f4:cc:00:11:95:53:36:81:08:00 SRC=69.90.97.228 DST=192
.168.0.100 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=2024 PROTO=TCP SPT=80 DPT=1189 SEQ=1544666168 ACK=0 WINDOW=0 RES=0x00 RST

Then I have lots of interupt too busy followed by some memory mapping addresses.
I ran ipcs and found nothing unusual,
any ideas?
message log has apparently rolled or I would have better error description,
thanx,
bill

New Can you try a different card?
Does it happen with Knoppix? Does it happen with Winders?

I think you'll have to figure out whether it's the hardware or the software. :-(

If it's not the hardware (e.g. OK under Winders), then I guess you'll have to do some software hacking. It'll be easier for the gurus to help if you tell them what the hardware is, etc.

Luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New l to tell you the card I would have to pull it out
,and I have only Mepis', it didnt exhobit the same issues under winders workssdtstion 2k
so will wait until the next episode to see what it is.
thanx,
bill

New Based on the MAC, it's a 3COM
The rest of the details should be in the dmesg log where the driver gets loaded.
New neat log, thanx, here is the card info
000:01:00.0: 3Com PCI 3CCFE575CT Tornado CardBus at 0x4000. Vers LK1.1.19

New That looks like an iptables log entry
Maybe the fault isn't with the hardware? A Google on "iptables aborted" turns up >7K entries. May give you somehting to work from.
New thanx, Ill take a look
