The main reason for a decent message is to keep the end-user's from asking for help. The fact it allows them to actually continue to do their job is secondary.
Todd pointed out that I was failing, and the result of that failure would be more work for me, talking to end users. So I fixed it.
Man, I hate those long lines. But I'm stopping myself from going back and "fixing" them.
