That said, I use it (along with cron) for a poor man's backup tool to sync a mirror of my cvs repository to an external drive.

But the Versiontracker link I gave points to a GUI frontend for rsync since the CLI syntax can be a bit...um...off-putting to the first-time user.

Good point about resource forks, though. I thought there was some issue like that but couldn't remember.
