New Anyone know about dvd region codes?
I mean more than what I already know. ("How much is that?" you ask. Well gimme a damn minute.)

My wife just got a copy of The Incredibles. Real retail version, not a copy. Put it in our dvd player. Loads, gets to the FBI warning, hangs. Has to power-cycle to restart and eject.

Took it across the street and put it in her mother's dvd player. Worked fine. Players are same manufacturer. Ours is about a year newer, different model. (Not positive of model numbers but similar to Apex 1200 & Apex 1100.)

Any way to check if I've got a region code issue? I've got a dvd drive in the computer, so can check for details there.

New Have you got any import DVDs?
I guess if they play and your others don't, you're configured for the wrong region.

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New could be firmware
I recall The Matrix used features that broke on a number of DVD players.

New WAG: region code failure got to be more explicit than hang

New Players are always quite firm when it's a Region issue.
That's one bug you can be sure of, so to speak. It's a different story if your player has some "magic" region switching code, though. On the other hand, such code has been around for quite a few years and is in general pretty foolproof (even the so-called Region Coding Enhancements were very quickly defeated, IIRC), so it's quite unlikely that your DVD is hanging on that.

It's probably a mastering/features issue, like Darrell. I have a DVD of a concert that always hangs on the exact same spot on my home player. I can't remember on my portable player; I think it goes right past it.

Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed

Somebody save my life

The biggest giveaway is they always have slightly too specific of an answer to literally every question.
