Welcome to IWETHEY!

New BTW with regards to the Canopy v Yarro etal
[link|http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=200503082344210|Yikes!] The Canopy Lawyers basically unloaded the law library on the Trio! And Smith!

Holy, schmanoly.

This could well be the Death knell of the SCOG v <insert pretty much anyone using linux> saga.

I can see Darl being reeled back in... maybe even being cut loose.

I can also see things going from SCOG ---> Caldera. In an attempt at PR Triage.

Matter of fact there *ARE* rumblings even in Novell about re-acquisition of Caldera/SCOG. And yes Peter, this is from the same list of people I still keep in contact with @Novell.

And yes, the old ideas about merging *NIX and Linux technologies was originally thought of @Novell... yes they never were dropped either, just put on a shelf somewhere.

The whole fiasco of SCOG (SCOX) might just be a memory soon.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
New One-sided
SCO may realize that it needs to fold.

But will IBM et al willingly let countersuits fold?

Furthermore while the settlement may protect this trio of wrongdoers from the Canopy group, will it protect them from an expanding web of countersuits?

I'm still hoping that a trail leads back to Microsoft, and IBM nails them for huge damages.

Cheers,
Ben
