I've heard of projects to domesticate fish.

And I *know* some of you will be going "Huh?" :-)

Most of our agricultural animals are domesticated breeds: they don't really have wild versions extant anymore. The domestic versions of cattle and sheep rely on man's tending to produce in the amount we want.

But we don't have any fish like that. The goal of the projects to domesticate fish is to come up with variations of fish that analogous to the common cow.

Self-gutting Rainbow Trout?

Modified seppuku: a sharpened (humaneered) fin guts the sucker mid-air as it flips self into frying pan; to internal mantra .. I cannot live with this shame.

But then.. we're all domesticated; sheep by the shepherds, troops by the priests: we're all Good Corporate Citizens Now (sung to the Lumberjack's Song :-)
