New Intel knocks off Mini
[link|http://news.com.com/Intel+shows+off+Mac+Mini-like+concept+PC/2100-1041_3-5596629.html?tag=nefd.ac|http://news.com.com/....html?tag=nefd.ac]

Intel on Wednesday showed off its living room PC of the future--and it looks a lot like the Mac Mini.

As part of a speech at the Intel Developer Forum here, Vice President Don MacDonald demonstrated several concept PCs, including the Sleek Concept Entertainment PC--a square, metallic-colored device that was immediately reminiscent of the desktop computer Apple Computer introduced earlier this year.

It's unlikely that Intel itself would build such a device. The chipmaker often uses its twice-yearly developer events to try to spur creativity among computer makers.

Given Dell's "Innovation is for suckers" philosophy, I wouldn't expect to see such at thing actually materialize.

The funny thing, is, all Intel was showing off was the box. There were no guts inside.

<intel> Woo, get us! We can make a silver plastic box and say "We could put a PC in this, you know. But we haven't."

New and we won't because...
it would over heat or require another box the same size to cool it...
Have fun,

New Worse than that.
"We have a processor we could put into one of these boxes. It's called Dothan. But we won't, because we'd rather watch you trying to fit the cooling solution for a Prescott into it."

It probably needes the "Designed for Windows98" "Designed for WindowsMe" "Designed for Windows 2000" "Designed for Windows XP Home" "Designed for Windows XP Professional" "Designed for Windows 2003 DataCenter" ... stickers too though.

:-)

Very nice! You should send that to The Register or The Inquirer (you might want to find a mirror for it first though).

Cheers,
Scott.
New Seconded! Send that one around.
