Local radio station raised money to reimburse them
Today, The Zoo gives the Durango Cookie Girls their check!
Thanks to our listeners, The Zoo will reimburse two Durango teens that were sued for delivering cookies to their neighbor. Today at 3pm, Dave Logan and Scott Hastings will present a check to the girls! They were ordered to pay about $930 in medical bills and court costs. All money raised over $930 will be donated (on behalf of the girls) to The Never Forgotten Fund.
Listen to Taylor Ostergaard thanking listeners on The Zoo for their generosity!
A Note from Taylor's father:
Let me give my thanks and sincere appreciation for you, all the folks at KOA, and your listeners. It is so heartening for Taylor and Lindsey to know they have such support and affection of so many value based people on the front range. It is unbelievable to us how many have responded to this with support and affection. This is not only from our great country but literally it is coming from all over the world at this time.
For the day and far into the future, I hope that your smiles come easily and frequently.
R.F. Ostergaard Durango, CO From [link|http://www.850koa.com/shows/zoo/index.html|850 KOA] The Never Forgotten Fund is a scholarship fund established in the wake of the Columbine High School shootings. Last I heard, they had raised over $4000 for these girls.

What a lesson
"The victory wasn't sweet," Young said Thursday afternoon. "I'm not gloating about it. I just hope the girls learned a lesson." Yeah, not to be nice to their neighbors! Thanks alot B****! This points out one of the big problems with the country. Everybody wants to sue everyone else for anything they can get. The family had offered to pay her medical bills, but she wasn't happey with that. she had to drag the kids into court to try to get more. At least the judge didn't give her more, but considering the family was already offering to pay, I think if I were judge, I'd make the lady pay the court costs that shouldn't have been needed.

This is a sad commentary on our world today
We have a Halloween tradition in our neighborhood called "ghosting", where you leave bags of candy and gifts on your neighbors porch. You do it at night so you cant be seen. You include a sign with your gifts that the recipient puts on their door to let others know they've already been ghosted. Then they go out and ghost 3 more neighbors. Kinda like secret santa. Nobody gets sued and a good time is had by all.

What I found funniest was...
...the line about it being "too late at night for these girls to be out and about". It was 10:30 pm -- an hour and a half BEFORE midnight -- and the "girls" were seventeen AND EIGHTEEN years old!!!
I put "girls" in quotes there, because their ages makes them more "young women" than "girls" -- at least the older of them was legally a frigging ADULT, ferfuxxake!
And she shouldn't be allowed to be out on her own after ten, or what??? What the fuck is America becoming; Medieval-slash-Victorian Prudesville?
Oh, WTF do I mean, "becoming" -- sorry I asked; I really oughta know it's been that for a long while, already.
