New Need a killer recipe for a Valentine's Day party
We're invited to an adults-only Valentine's Day party. (Ah, quiet.) Each couple is asked to bring a dish. There will be prizes for the best theme dish and the best tasting. I think my dark chocolate truffles stand a chance in the best tasting, but I'd like to be in the running for best theme, also. I can do them heart shaped, but that doesn't seem like enough.

I thought about getting some beef hearts and frying them up, but heart tends to be a little tough. And my wife would kill me.

Oh, one of the couples coming ... they're both professional chefs. So like, no pressure or anything. :-/

New Well, it's all adult, so . . .
. . do a Google search on Aphrodisiac recipes. That should get you plenty of theme material.

New Well, you could do something like this...
[link|http://www.ostgardr.org/cooking/st.val.feast.html|St. Valentine's Feast], but that is going a bit overboard.

[link|http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0847815641/104-3625506-5450311?v=glance|Death by Chocolate] is always good, but not specifically a Valentine's related confection. There are many things of the same name. [link|http://www.thetrellis.com/dessert.html|Here] is The Trellis version (just a description). A bunch of variations are [link|http://chocolate-recipes.chef2chef.net/recipes-11.shtml|here]. Of course, some people don't like chocolate that much.

Something with [link|http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,artichoke_hearts,FF.html|Artichoke hearts]?

There's always [link|http://disney.go.com/vault/archives/movies/ladytramp/ladytramp.html|spaghetti]...

Don't sweat it. Have fun.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Ooh, I like the spaghetti one
I can make some pasta from scratch, make it way too long, and run it through the fine slicer. Make each plate a single noodle three feet long.

Or go with the artichoke and do chicken saltimbocca. Dredge the chicken in flour, cover with a slice of prosciutto and grill. Transfer to roaster with white wine/lemon sauce, capers and artichoke hearts. (Visit your local [link|http://www.bucadibeppo.com/loc_index.asp?FL=YS|Buca di Beppo].)
