Please point me to the death of it.
As recently as 65 minutes ago I see reports of it still returning images.
I'd like to read about it, if true.
LA Times shows most recent images. (subscript needed) 47 Minutes ago.
Color me Orange with confusion.

What I heard...
...is that the probe itself "died" two hours after it dropped, in that it stopped sending data to the orbiting satellite. The data we're getting now is the satellite sending data back to us.
This is what I heard in the car on NPR today, around the junction of Highway 18 and Highway 167 in Washington state at around 8:40am today. Can't help you more than that. :)

ONE of the TWO data channels failed.
So, some(most) data that was queued in the Second data channel was lost. Appears it is still functioning and transmitting. On channel ONE that is.

Ah.
The way they were talking, it was as if they had lost complete contact with the lander, and that from the beginning, only one channel was working.

Pointer.
The probe continued transmitting data for more than 90 minutes after reaching the surface. [link|http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=531|Link]. Read between the lines. And, don't tell a year is over 90 minutes! :)

Here ya go.
[link|http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=531|NASA]: The probe entered Titan's upper atmosphere at about 5:15 a.m. EST Jan. 14. During its two and one-half hour descent to the surface of the moon, it sampled the chemical composition of the atmosphere. The probe continued transmitting data for more than 90 minutes after reaching the surface. The batteries were designed to last [link|http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/cassini/timeline/huygens_titan.html|153 minutes]: Huygens will make a parachute-assisted descent through Titan's atmosphere, collecting data as the parachutes slow the probe from super sonic speeds. Five batteries onboard the probe are sized for a Huygens mission duration of 153 minutes, corresponding to a maximum descent time of 2.5 hours plus at least 3 additional minutes (and possibly a half hour or more) on Titan's surface. These batteries are capable of generating 1800 Watt-hours of electricity. It seems that the batteries lasted about an hour longer than the optimistic hope of 30 minutes on the surface. HTH. Cheers, Scott.

Window of opportunity
The mission was designed to use Cassini as a relay station allowing for a less energy hungry transmitter. The battery lifespan bracketed the window of contact between the probe and the orbiter.
There was some speculation that a couple of antennas on earth were sensitive enough to pick up Huyghens' signal directly, but that as too much of a gamble.
