Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Don't know if anyone has brought this up...
But I think I may have found something.

[link|http://www.exchange4linux.org/billworkgroup/home|Exchange4Linux] an independent workgroup server solution running under LINUX, but using MS-Outook(TM) as the Client on the MS-Windows(TM) Desktop for use with shared calendars and task lists, etc, and not limited to e-mail. MS-Outlook(TM) uses a MAPI Service Provider to store workgroup data centrally in MS-Exchange(TM) database or other 3rd party messaging servers.

Hmmm. Opins?

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
New Trade one lockin for another, it looks like
New Lock-in? or Option?
For me, there are a few options I'd rather not take. Giving Microsoft is one I'd rather not take.

It is released as GPL. So you can use it for your business/organization without worry. Just that direct support will cost you... as it is with any server-side software.

GPL, means GPL. If need be we can fork it if they ever change it.

I am not so worried, it'll work with Evo... so thats a good thing.

New It's not all GPL
Each client needs a connector which they charge for and is closed.

But I agree the choice is better than no choice. ;)
New I could understand that...
But, if you have the server source...

and you have the API specs from M$...

Well you can put 2 and 2 together right?
