Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Can you run the command shell
and start programs correctly from there?

Only other thought that pops into my head is maybe the prefetch directory under windows is hosed.
New Couldn't at first . .
It couldn't even find "dir", but a repair reinstall of XP put all the executables back and they work, including the command line, but their shortcut icons like in "Accessories" are all nonfunctional and have the OO image. Making a new desktop shortcut icon for Explorer by drag and drop produces a non-functional icon.
