Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Okay.... I read the whole 300 page book on my handheld
Well, every single page that applied to me, i.e. skipped things like multi-media, music, wireless, etc, things I'm not doing or worrying about now. I sat here last night and just read it straight through, skipping anything that didn't apply to me and my Zire.

And I still can't find anything about how to get an Access file or Word file saved to a PDB format and put into Zephyr (my Zire). I read there is other software available to do it, but it didn't provide a lot of information about Mobile DB-PC.

I think I need a manual on Mobile DB-PC. Anyone have any ideas where I might find one? The only manual I seem to have is just plain Mobile-DB. It explains that if you have Mobile-DB-PC you can interface your data bases with the computer, but says nothing beyond that.

On a happier note, I was able to reconfigure settings to be able to edit on the PC in Mobile DB and actually write it over to the handheld, rather than the handheld writing over the computer again. But there is still no setting on system (which is apparently the setting that changes this action), that gives me synchronization options, I only get handheld overwrites PC, PC overwrites handheld, and do nothing.

Would it maybe be safest with this issue to select do nothing unless I'm actually transferring the data base info back and forth deliberately? I don't want a random hotsync to screw it up.

Also, I was wondering if there is a way to get Mobile DB-PC into the settings list and maybe then it would have a configure setting of synchronize?

Ah well, at least I have a temporary fix while I work on a real one. :)

Would appreciate any and all information that might help. I'm determined to figure this out.

Brenda

New Did it come with a CD?
Did the MobileDB come with the device? Was there a CD with it that has the PC software on it? This page says it should come with MobileDB-PC:

They also have an Access and an Excel PC client for the product.

New Yes it did, but we solved it!!!!
Thanks all of you guys, for your help!

John managed to convert the Access Data Base into a comma separated file and then hotsync the entire thing to my Zire! YAY!

And he made some queries that will let us update on a regular basis when needed!

Thank you so much, I just didn't know exactly what to google for, so I was kinda finding things hit and miss! :)

Have a MERRY Christmas!

New Access to Mobile-DB
See [link|http://asp.silvercloudsoftware.com/handmark/pages/answer.jsp?id=69|here] for what to do.

As for Word files, what are the contents? If you want to work with them as regular Word files, you'll need to get Dataviz's DocumentsToGo. Version 6 is able to read and write unconverted Word, Excel and Powerpoint files on an SD card.

If you're only going to use them as read-only files and don't need to edit them on the Zire itself, you could convert them into PalmDoc format, which is the format used by PalmReader (one of the included programs).

See [link|http://www1.gantep.edu.tr/~sonercan/convert.htm|here] for a list of programs that can convert files to PalmDoc format.
