Welcome to IWETHEY!

New The startup stuff is called "Welcome".
It should be in the Unfiled area of the Home icons.

Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed

Is it enough to die
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be Anything but Ordinary

New Thanks! And one other question?
We did figure out how to get it set up after all. Now I just have to figure out how to input data on the DB that came with it, on my regular computer in the Palm OS software. If I can do that, man, I'm set! ;)

Oh, and one other question. Can you delete icons off the home page, and if so, how? I haven't been able to figure that out. I ordered a book on Palm OS and handhelds from Barnes and Noble, and I have the manual in adobe, but I've been unable to figure out how to clear icons from the screen that I don't need or want there.

New Some answers.
When you installed the software that came with it, there should be something like "Palm Desktop" that gets installed on the PC. One of the categories is "Address". You can use that as your database, I think.

(All of the information on the Palm is stored in various databases, I think.)

You can create your own categories on the Zire. You don't delete icons, you just make a new category with the applications that interest you then just display that category of interest.

You probably need to read through the Handbook:

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Man... bad mouse!
This isn't the post I wanted, I wanted to reply to the other one, so ignore this one.

Actually, it also came with a software called Handmark DB I love it, but I can't seem to get it to open on my computer, only on the Palm OS.

You can create your own categories on the Zire. You don't delete icons, you just make a new category with the applications that interest you then just display that category of interest.

So I can't delete icons that I don't need? Drat. I was hoping to delete some of them, since I didn't install those apps.

You probably need to read through the Handbook:

I have several PDF files, yes, I'm pretty sure one of them is that one. I've been reading through them, but there's nothing so far about how to get the handmark DB to open where I can input it on my computer and then sync it to Zepyhr, my Zire.

But I'm on it... where there's a will, there's a way!

New Icons and apps.
You *can* remove apps, which will remove their icon - but you probably don't want to do that. A better way to do it is to put them in a category you won't use. That can either be UnFiled, an existing one, or you can create one (e.g. "Surplus"). In fact, you should probably put all the apps you use frequently in the one category.

You mean I can move them around in the categories? That's great! I'll research how to do that instead. Thanks!
