Welcome to IWETHEY!

New You might need to enable
Bitmapped fonts as default and restart *X* and your X Font Server "xfs".

dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig

If not, these prolly won't show up, as ttf is most likely bit-mapped.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
Here is an example: [link|http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm001-ie/|Executing arbitrary commands without Active Scripting or ActiveX when using Windows]
New Didn't work
Font list staed the same

Options:
Sub-pixel no
Bitmap yes
Autohint No

/etc/init.d/xfs restart

Exit desktop.
Fource an X-Win restart from xdm.

Log back in.

List stays the same.

And I'm confused about the TT - I thought TT was were not Bitmapped.
New TTF some are Bit-Mapped and some aren't.
OpenType for sure is not bit-mapped.

Mayhaps you have to add the directories that they were added to to the local.conf in /etc/fonts/local.conf

All you should need to do is add the directory where they are... something like:
<dir>/usr/share/fonts/truetype</dir>
<dir>/usr/local/share/fonts</dir>

Something like that, fontconfig should pickup the changes within 30 secs or so. If not restart xfs,(not everything else) and things *might* worky.

I say *might* because it seems everyone else has problems with these things and I just don't. I fsck with them all the time and I don't lose them... I just don't know anymore.

You, Mike, Jim just to mention a few always seem to have bad karma with this stuff. It just WFM. YMMV. IANAL.
