Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Slow......
12KB a second.

I checked the various mirros.
Any Bit-Torrent for this?
New Here, I think.
I think the first link was reasonably quick for me (it took about an hour).

But [link|http://www.tlm-project.org/distributions/browse_distro.php?distro_id=12&expand_version=67|this] seems to be a Bit Torrent mirror of 2004.4

Luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New Torrenting...
Along with Fedora 3
New MEPIS is awesome
boot up, click the icon to install to hard drive, follow instruction, come back to a fully functional debian installation with kde as wm.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]

New OK, now what
I pop the CD in.
I boot.
It gives me a bunch of choices, NONE of them leading to an install (that I can tell).
Leads me into a KDE screen that has root and demo login, both of which need a password.

OK, help screen says root/root. Will it allow an install from there?
We'll see.

New You're learning, grasshopper.
:-)

There's an icon on the desktop - "MEPIS System" or something like that. It lets you fix existing partitions or install. Some more info is [link|http://www.mepis.org/book/view/7|here].

I haven't tried it myself. :-) Let us know how it goes.

If you get a chance, I'd like your comments on my MEPIS review in Reviews.

Luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New Install went quickly
Feels a bit raw, visually.

qparted is nasty compare to RH or Suse partitioners.
And then, I went out of my way to construct
root, var, tmp, home, swap partitions, and the
next step only wanted root, swap, and home.

I attempted to "apt-get install nvidia-glx" (as per the
mepis web site) in order to get my driver and it failed.

It hinted that I might want to do an "apt-get update".

So I did.

This time "apt-get install nvidia-glx" worked.

I have single nvidia card, but I prefer dual
monitor. Can I place another card in the system
and run dual head while still having the nvidia
driver loaded?

What can I do about these fonts? I've never had to
change fonts on a Linux box before, but this is just
too ugly to use.

New Here's the Mepis specific one

Of course, in the comments, someone responds with the single "apt-get ttf-commercial" to do it all.
New Where's ttf-commercial?
It's not in any of the sources I have.
