Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Okay, good news. I have my IP Addrs.
My scheme for the move will be as follows.

Definition of 2 additional DNS servers.

I will setup those machines to be the masters of all zones.

You can leave all DNS servers in your references at your domain name registrars.

When I make the switchover, I'll install the NEW zonefiles and -HUP the DNS servers let the changes propagate and shutdown everything on the old side.

disconnect the machines... load them in my car, and set them up shortly after I unload them.

Should be a matter of an hour (I hope), provided I don't have an y car problems... (I won't say the problem I am worried most about)

I now have 64 addresses to use vs 32. Wonderba.

I'll post more instructions later, within the next day or so.

This really has turned out for the better. Must one of those "God Details"[1] my wife keeps talking about.

[1] Please, no need to comment on this particular thing. I know how most people feel and we don't need to re-hash it again, to get the same dish we already have.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]

New In the additional details can you say the new IP address?
I'm fairly sure that Adelphia will screw up on DNS propagation for several days. When the switch happens it would be convenient to know what to stick in my hosts file to bypass their incompetence.

Thanks,
Ben

New Oh yes... indeed.
