New Zone defense in the NBA
I don't really see the NBA these days, so I am wondering how the new rule changes allowing zone defenses have affected things. Are many teams playing zone defenses? Are teams using more zone defenses against great players(box in one etc.)? It would have been interesting if Rick Pitino was still coaching in the NBA, he for sure would have come up with some interesting defenses.
New Went to a Dallas Mavericks game...
...the other night when they played Denver. I couldn't tell the difference (granted my judgement was hindered by intoxication). I know the mavs got called for an illegal defense, but I haven't kept up with the subtleties of what's now legal vs. what's still illegal.

Then again, neither the Mavs or the Nuggets are stalwarts of offensive firepower. Nowetzki had a great game, but he was shooting a lot of 3 pointers, so double teaming him was not a good option.
New Zone defense
they can use any zone except that a player can not park in the paint for more than three seconds
from what I've seen on TV they are basically using the 'pro zone' that would get an occasional illegal D call under the old rules, the defenders stay on whatever side of the free throw line they want instead of having to match up with what used to be their man
haven't seen any 3-2 or box and one as in the college game
you'd think a losing team would get experimental
