Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Few milli seconds on a System that has
Load averages in the 200's and utilization on all processors means much.

Think about doing something similar when executing it a few thousand times a second...

a few miliseconds adds up dunnah it.

You keep showing your lack of understand for multi-user/application/speed-sensitive/effcient systems.

Where a simple usage of the wrong tool could cost you HOURS and HOURS of compute time.

Get over it bud, your lack of knowledge at how to keep things working proper, keeps showing more and more.

Using the right tools in the right place, for me it is second nature, where as you try to make it pretty. I make things pretty that SHOULD be pretty where it counts. Everything else is made to work and not be a impoverished hack.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]

New Fair enough
I've been burned by unexpected croaking of "cut" before in an important cron job, so I weaned myself from it. My way. Use the right tool. cut is for selecting columns in exactly, consistently formatted data. It's not a field selection tool.

New Cool
I knew you guys could do it.

My property ain't big enough to keep you both apart for an entire weekend ;-)

New Excellent.
Now see, I ALSO understand your reasoning behind thinking and you mine.

Each are valid reason to use or not use cut (or anything else)

If you would include some of the reasoning behind your feeling and comments things would go MUCH MUCH better.

And Bill... now: Piss off!

Yeah, yeah. I know.
