Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Ahaaaaaa. . . .
Dang, they're all non-free. Can't really use it for applications then. Or maybe I can, I don't design stuff for wide distribution.

Sounds like it was based on the paste-up lettering common at the time which makes some sense. We in archaeology were still using that for maps and such pretty recently.

I really liked the displays from the film, especially after looking at them again in the DVD and among various web sites. The lettering was clear and easily readable.

Here's some links on HAL, 2001, etc. I came across while looking into this. The HAL screensaver is really pretty neat.

Makes me rather long for the days when computers only made me swear when I screwed them up (i.e., pre-Microsoft)

New Logic memory center
That font is called "Century Gothic Bold" or some such (I call it "that 50s font" :)

The "Eurostile" is have was free, from here:

..although it's not an exact match for the 2k1 console font.

Also got a nice "fraktur" (German gothic) font from there.

New Re: Logic memory center
The Eurostile seemed to work nicely. Here's two links to test screens:

I'm trying to make them a bit less mainframey.
New I like!
But we really *need* the HAL font, which is very slightly more squat and blocky. Must be one in that horde on the Jap server.

New Re: I like!
Well, our data entry person doesn't. I entered some with the light blue one and I liked it better I think. But then, I always found it easier on the eyes to use a more monochrome screen.
