Budweiser . . .

Any beer that I will pay $7 / 6-pack is certainly no ordinary beer (note: Prussian content in my ancestry - "Prussian" is Teutonic equivalent for English "Scotch" in economic terminology and "cheap bastard" in U.S.).

Scotch is a drink. (it all tastes like paintstripper to me, but hey. The landlord at my local, Don, who is something of a connoisseur of these things, periodically proffers to me samples of his latest two-hundred-year old single malt, made by men in kilts in castles in the peat bog, in the forlorn hope that THIS ONE will educate Peter's tastebuds, but with no success yet)
Scottish is the nationality :-)

Perhaps you folks apply the correct usage over there?

You should, obviously, use the correct form.
That's what it being the correct form MEANS.
Furthermore, I'd say that a nation that thinks its speech is called "speach" has disqualified itself from any normative function whatsoever.

. . because the expression "He's Scotch" as an idication of "thrift" has largely faded from American usage (though one of my clients, Thrifty Appliance Repair, does feature a Scot in a kilt as their mascot, it's a rather old business). Scots just aren't a significant eth over here any more.
Given the "incorrect" usage is archaic I'm not surprised it doesn't show up in so general a Google search, however here is "supporting documentation" from a more specific Google search for [link|http://www.mcn.org/c/irapilgrim/race02.html|"He's Scotch"] (third paragraph).

Jameson's single malt Irish is quite good...otherwise the lowest on the rung for me is Glenfiddich or Glenmorangie.
If I have to drink blended I drink American Whiskey (read bourbon).

If you like the Jameson's
You might try Redbreast. It's a 12 year old single malt Irish. Better than Jameson's IMO. It is a little difficult to find in Cleveland but it's carried in the liquor store that services most of the bars.

I love Jamie
..but it's not Scotch - unless you include the islands that make it the same way.
To me, non-blended Scotch tastes like medicine. If I want a medicinal drink, it's Jaegermeister.
(My first ever whiskey was a pint of Bourbon, which made me very ill without hurling, making it much much worse. Thus even the thought of Bourbon makes my head reel.)
