New Re: Nope, doesn't work . . .
Whatever happened to domain name squatters? Did anyone really make significant money from that?
-drl
New Yes, but the big bucks are tough now . .
It now goes to a court of no (or little) appeal. If you are judged to have taken a domain name that is a trade name or for some other reason obviously (or even not so obviously) infringes on someone else, you lose it.

A generic name that just happens to be a great name for some particular type of business you can still do and can make good money on (someone sold one for big bucka a few weeks ago but I forget what it was). That's a tougher game to play, though.

New I usedta know the guy who owned "tele.com", Julian Macassey.
IIRC.

Well, "know" might be too strong a word; he used to hang out in alt.peeves a few years back, and we exchanged an email or two.

Dunno if he still has the domain, or let it lapse, or if he was the one the Gryge heard about selling it, or whatever.

Your lies are of Microsoftian Scale and boring to boot. Your 'depression' may be the closest you ever come to recognizing truth: you have no 'inferiority complex', you are inferior - and something inside you recognizes this. - [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=71575|Ashton Brown]
New Buggety-bug in links? (new thread)
