New Beastie Boys CD installs DRM virus
[link|http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/06/23/beastie_boy_cd_virus/|http://www.theregist...tie_boy_cd_virus/]

According to a recent thread at BugTraq, an executable file is automatically and silently installed on the user's machine when the CD is loaded. The file is said to be a driver that prevents users from ripping the CD (and perhaps others), and attacks both Windows boxen and Macs.

New I'll admit it.
I like the Beastie Boys. Or at least some of their stuff.

Guess there's no accounting for taste.

Of course, Peter, the electronica crap you listen to makes my cat toss hairballs.

New Naw, it's a "Thane" thing
It's what I call the overly synthesized pap you refer to as music. ;)

New most american music is crap also
rap is just nasty riymes with a solid bass. Country lately is Brittany Spears with a drawl and a dog, rock hasnt been producing solidly for a while although some songs hit the mark. Blues is practiced by white college students so the only current decent american music is zydeco. Here is a UK link

New Re: most american music is crap also
Country lately is Brittany Spears with a drawl and a dog,
\r\n\r\nThere's still gems to be found in country though, like Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose. Got the recommendation from [link|http://archive.salon.com/ent/music/review/2004/05/06/lynn/|Salon.com], of all places.
New Heard an interview about that on the radio
There's another song on that album I'd like to hear. She was recording some stuff with the front man for the white Stripes.[1] She didn't know he had a live mike in the living room outside the studio. She told him a story about when she was a little girl and her mother stole a pair of shoes for her because she couldn't afford any. Next she heard it, he'd put music behind it. The clip I heard, you'd never know she wasn't reading a poem someone had worked many hours on.

[1] I've noticed a lot of the older country stars are doing duets with the most unlikely people. And they're always good.

Implicitly condoning stupidity since 2001.
New "overly synthesized"?
How's that work?

(!Electronic != good) && (Electronic != bad)

New Reliance on synthesis
instead of reliance on quality.

(Besides, I'm just yankin' your chain. I remember having to execute "meh++;" after you had me go through all that trouble to download "Firestarter" all that time ago, and had to get you back for it.)

New I think I'll buy it and see what happens to my machine...
Betchya I can rip it. And encode it.

Then send it to them and say I used nothing other than standard tools that I have freely and easily available to anyone with a Brain and that they use it.

Security: We got another Mass Exodus Doorway Jam.
New Not the point.
It's easy to get around this one. I'm surprised that the Beastie Boys agreed to this, if they were even asked.
