Disney on ITMS
Disney just signed an exclusive deal with Apple to offer their music on the iTunes Music Store.
My first impression: This is HUGE, given Disney's stated stance on intellectual property.
The good news: They have their own section, with a nice set of offerings, including some of their older works like "Mary Poppins". You know, back when the whole album was full of worthwhile tunes. (I grabbed a copy of "The Jungle Book".)
The not so good news: "Mary Poppins" isn't available as a full album, but as seventeen separate tracks.
At any rate, I think it's a good thing. Sure, Disney has allowed a group of chimpanzees to manage them these last few years, wasting decades of accumulated image-building and churning out forgettable pieces of crap like "Cinderella 2" and "Treasure Planet", but that doesn't mean that I can't take advantage of the few pearls of inspired goodness amongst the monkey shit.
