New Fundraising for FreeBSD development
Poul-Henning Kamp (one of the core FreeBSD developers) is asking for donations, and saying that if he gets them he will complete [link|http://people.freebsd.org/~phk/plan.html|a series of I/O improvements] by the end of this year, rather than in the next couple of years.

[link|http://people.freebsd.org/~phk/funding.html|http://people.freebs...~phk/funding.html]

Commentary from Ziggy at [link|http://use.perl.org/~ziggy/journal/18315|http://use.perl.org/~ziggy/journal/18315] suggests that Ziggy, for one, thinks highly of Poul-Henning Kamp's abilities. I have a high respect for Ziggy's opinions. OTOH I don't use FreeBSD.

Cheers,
Ben
To deny the indirect purchaser, who in this case is the ultimate purchaser, the right to seek relief from unlawful conduct, would essentially remove the word consumer from the Consumer Protection Act

New Maybe you don't, but remember
diversity in systems in an extant network enhances the survivability of that network under strain.

If you follow my meaning... ;)

New Under that theory, should I donate to Apple and Microsoft?

New Oh absolutely
especially Microsoft. With the legal woes it's facing, that poor Bill Gates must need all the help he can get.

questions, help? [link|mailto:pappas@catholic.org|email pappas at catholic.org]
New isn't donating to BSD the same thing as donating to Apple?
OSX is based on the BSD Mach kernel...how related is that to FreeBSD?
